My New Marketing and Sales Blog
Usually, this space is reserved for a bit of advice or a rant on marketing or some related bit. This entry, however, is more like a press release - that is to say, straight self-promotion concealed as news.
The simple fact is that my corporate site blog is up, along with a much needed revision of the main site. That would actually make a good entry here: when is the right time for a site makeover? The singular answer in this case, though there are many, is when the site no longer resembles your offering.
You see, the last version of the site was a simple pitch to create marketing collateral that fell heavily toward the written word. If you've read any of the entries here, you know that I am big on message, content is king, yada, yada. This just no longer matches up with my current offering.
Oh, I'll still write a white paper or pump out targeted web articles. That's fun stuff. The change has really come in answer to my client's needs. Over the past two years, I've found myself training clients in marketing and sales skills and integration. It's reached the point that I've actually developed working sales and market training systems that hold across different industries, channels, and vertical markets.
As much as I've been able to contribute by creating content-rich sites, sales collateral, and PR materials, the contribution has been ten fold by showing them how to create integrated selling systems between marketing and sales.
It's easy to find sales courses, they're even doing radio advertising as if the masses need sales training. Marketing people usually get sent off to some creative/strategy conference once a year. By training them both together within the context of a company, I've been able to help them develop the skills and integrated knowledge they need to succeed. They can apply principles and newly learned competencies to solve new problems on their own.
The short of it is. The Shawgo Group has transitioned and expanded to better meet client needs, and our new web site and blog reflect the changes.
Happy reading.
